There Will Be a Day

On April 20, 2010 my cousin Scotty committed suicide.
That day and the day of his funeral were probably the worst I have ever experienced in my life.
Scotty and I were the same age. Because we lived several states apart, we only saw each other every few years, but those times that we did all get together were remarkably fun.
I'll always remember his amazing smile and contagious fun-loving personality.
My heart hurts at the thought of the amount of pain he must have been dealing with to have done that...

I love you, Scotty.
These songs remind me of you.

You'll never be forgotten.

Isaiah 40:29-31

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
This passage is a 'coffee-cup' verse, as my pastor likes to call them :) Most of us are familiar with this famous verse from the Bible, but further reflection on it has caused it to a have new meaning in my life. And, as crazy as it may sound, the tattoo below was the first thing that caused me to see this verse in a new light.
When I first saw this tattoo, I was mesmerized at all the different thoughts it brought to my mind.  To this day I am still amazed that someone could think to sketch a drawing that transformed something as ugly and boring as a dandelion and dandelion seeds into beautiful, soaring birds.  When I was first asked what this tattoo meant to me, I said it symbolized to me that God can create beauty and wonderful things from even the most "inferior" creations on Earth.

And this brings me back to the scripture referred to previously, but earlier verses.  Isaiah 40:29-31 states:
"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Read in context with the earlier verses, Isaiah 40:31 speaks wonders to me!  These verses were speaking of people who needed physical and spiritual help.  For years now, after deciding to become a Physical Therapist, this has been my goal - to not only provide physical assistance to my patients, but spiritual help as well!

How truly wonderful it is to know that God does have plans for His children!
